Rajpur Sadharan Sammilani - An Unforgettable and Significant Historical Institution
The year was 1921, Bengal was determined to make the country independent, with a single mantra "Who
wants to save freedom from humiliation?"
Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose's sole effort was to unite the youth in India's freedom movement. For this
he often came to his ancestral home in Kodalia, an adjacent village to Rajpur. Sometimes he came to
Rajpur for meetings. On the other hand Narendra Nath Bhattacharya (M. N. Roy) used to come here for the
same purpose. Gradually the people of the village were getting united with a vow for freedom movements.
A new wave of art culture is falling in the country. Many youths of the village joined this movement. At
that time there was a strict watch of the British rulers. Amidst such situation, “Rajpur Sadhana
Sammilani" was formed by the deception of those rulers. Intension was to mislead the rulers. In
nutshell, promoting the country’s freedom movements in disguise of sports and sociocultural activities.
The external purpose of which was sports, health, culture and social development, i.e. health formation,
cultural practices and social development work through sports, but the main goal was to make the country
independent. Thus this club was founded in 1921 with that idea.
